Our Harissa Carrots are a thing of beauty. The sweetness and crunch of local Ontario sweet carrots with the smoky, aromatic heat of our harissa blend. These delectables are the newest addition to our line-up, but certainly don’t have the feel of being rookies. They are the refined elders of the pickled carrot family, and we revere them as such.
Versatile Crowd Pleasers
While very versatile, we love these on platters with dates, artichoke hearts, olives, preserved lemons, and dips. A surprise addition to a crudite with hummus and baba ghanoush, these are sure to be a crowd pleaser, not to mention with wings and a nice cold beer. Don’t forget our tried and true favourite - straight out of the jar over a good chat. These have a medium, smoky heat, unlike our more intense Killer Cukes so are safe for most people who can handle at least a standard medium salsa.
As part of our mission to ‘keep it local’, we at Hockley Pickling Co. use fresh local produce. The sweet carrots and garlic come to us from the farms of southern Ontario, which is exactly how we like it. We do our canning once per year when the season is at its peak, and then close up shop for the year. We sell what we’ve made, and when we are sold out (which happened by Christmas last year), we are sold out until the next year’s produce is ready to be pickled. You won’t find us buying out-of-season or imported produce.
