We met when we were seven years old, and it's been *deep breath* decades, and what feels like several lifetimes, since then. Together, we've seen successes, heartbreaks, tears, laughter, and many, many jars of pickles.
After years of giving most of what we made away to friends and family ... and friends of friends ... and family of neighbours, etc., we decided the time was right to make it official - and so Hockley Pickling Co. came to be. Two old friends and some good old fashioned canning.
Our cukes, carrots, asparagus, garlic, and dill are grown right here in southern Ontario. We believe fresh, local ingredients make the best pickles.
Want to sit with a friend and eat a whole jar while you catch up? You wouldn't be the first. Want to make the best caesar you've ever had? A few tablespoons of our brine will set you right. Want to take your charcuterie board to the next level? We've got you.
One Session Per Year
One outcome of our commitment to a local ethos is having one canning session per year. Our asparagus is ready to be pickled in late June, and our cukes are ready mid August. What we make then is all we will make for the year. Once we're out, we're out.
