Last year we experimented with a new idea: Garlic Dill Carrots. Our favourite review summed up our taste testers' reactions pretty succinctly, “Speechless ... except for the happy moans and grunts.” We took it as a clear indication that this product had to become a staple at Hockley Pickling Co.
A Classic Recipe
It’s a classic recipe with a sweet twist. Take that fresh dill, strong garlic and salty brine we are known for, replace the cukes with carrots, and you have our new Garlic Dill Carrots. If you are a crunch-aholic (like us), you will need this product on your shelf. They are deliciously addictive, like the pickles, but they are firmer, crunchier, a little bit sweeter ... and, hey, they’re orange. If you love a colourful plate, charcuterie board, or stir stick for your Caesar, these carrots are for you. Coming in 500 ml jars, these are perfect for your fridge and as gifts.
Keeping it Local
As part of our commitment to keeping it local, we at Hockley Pickling Co. fill our jars with local ingredients. The carrots, garlic, and dill all hail from the farms of southern Ontario, and that is as good as it can get for a pickle. We do our canning once per year when the season is at its peak, and then we close up the canning shop for the year and sell what we have on hand. When we are sold out (which happened by Christmas last year), we are sold out until the next year’s canning session.
